Texas State Capitol 3, a photo from Texas, South

Photographer's Note

Though I'm upset that construction left all these cones, barrels and lights blocking my shot, I'm also fortunate, as it meant the road was closed and I could stand in the middle of it to get a better angle down Congress Street in Austin toward the beautiful dome of the Texas Capitol. On the right is the neon sign announcing the State Theater.

You're joking, aren't you? Of course you are! It's really the cones, barrels and lights that make this fine night shot. The floodlit Capitol is a nice bonus in the background, but the red and green lights are more interesting this time.

Hi Andrew is a wonderful place! Stunning architecture and so much to see and learn. I enjoy reading your notes on the shots, they are always so informative. I like this high POV to capture the daily scene with so much color.

The construction cones don't bother me much at all, and the resulting POV is just fantastic. Great light mangement. I like the thick and long star effect around the street lights and the deep glow of the State theatre sign. Well framed and great placement of the Capitol.

Hello Andrew - The Capitol building is perfectly displayed against the inky black sky and you have captured it very well considering all the other lights you had to contend with. Excellent composition with the diagonal of lights leading us straight to the main event. Warm regards Rosemary

An excellent colorful night shot with the exposure that you have achieved here is superb even the brightest glow of light is not blown up. Indeed a quiet section of the cityscape due to on-going works there but the well lit Capitol building is a real draw. I love the definition all round plus the sparkles and the overall contrast is lovely. Fine piece of photo works, TFS

Hi Andrew,
After I saw the daylight post on the Texas-Capital Dome, a night scenery is a fine complementary picture.
A beautiful street view with variable light sources, and main subject draw the sight right away: The illuminated Dome is under great clarity and DOF, yet contrast well on dark backdrop's.

Hi Andrew,
I dont think the cones detract at all to be honest, the focal points of the beautiful state building, and the neon state theatre sign draw the eye relaly strongly, as does the 823 hovering in mid air above.
I really am a fan of night shots, and I particularly love the effect you have gotten from the red lights in the centre. Really nice shot, so much to look at in here!
