The Empress Hornblower cruising the Sacramento River with the Pyramid Building in the background, across from the hub of the California Gold Rush - Old Sacramento.

Evoking the gold rush era when riverboats navigated the Sacramento River from the San Francisco bay. Today Hornblower Cruises do likewise, with the Empress carrying 80 to 100 guests on the main deck and up to 70 on the open upper deck.

The Pyramid building is a ten story concrete office building designed to reflect ancient Mesopotamian ziggurats. The Pyramid was completed in 1997 by a bank, the Money Store. Today it houses California's Department of General Services HQ. It is more than 320,000 square feet.
