Photographer's Note

Ellery Lake is located 2 miles east of the Yosemite National Park boundary off the Tioga Pass Road (Highway 120). At 9,489 feet above sea level spring snows can blanket the area and last into June.

Trout fishing is popular and visitors may stroll around the lake's perimeter.

Farther east the road descends down the east slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, into a sagebrush and desert environment.

Wow! Excellent view of the lake, unfortunately I did not see this place, but The Yosemite NP is wonderful area. There are a lot of interesting places in the park. Perhaps this lake has got low level of the water today.

Ray, every time I visit Yosemite I feel that this place somehow is blessed, its natural beauty is stunning and its scenery more and more spectacular!!

A wonderful winter picture taken in June so, high above the sea level, maybe difficult with oxygen during a stroll.
You chose a very well angle, this cares for depth and perspective.
A splendid nature picture with snow and the long river.

Hello Ray,
this lake has a narrow and long shape and reminds me very much of the mountain river which runs between peaks. The trees on the bank add very much life and color to this landscape and the white snow contrasts with the dark parts of the hills. Very good light and well managed, nice colors and sharpness.

The snow makes this scene so inviting, it looks almost playful how the snow lies around, though I suspect the truth may be a little different! A very cool vista over this place, and again the perfectly clear pool to offer its reflections. How clean this water must be that we can see all the way through it.

Oooh this is a mighty photo. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and you have certainly got the best out of it. The reflections and tight framing complement each other superbly. I love the stark colours and the well-contrasted definition. Excellent job, and thanks for taking us to this paradise on earth.
