Photographer's Note

Harvey Boone's store survived the fires of Bodie, perhaps in part to its location at the corner of Main and Green Streets, and an empty lot across providing space if a fire was spreading. Even after the decline of mining and population the Store continued operating also as a cafe and selling gasoline into the 1920s. Many modern visitors enjoy taking photos of the two antique gas pumps and Dodge pickup truck next to the store.

Many commercial Bodie operations were housed in the same building. In the case of Boone's Store, inside was the Office of Bodie & Mill Creek Stage Line in 1880.
