Photographer's Note

Driving through the Old Oregon Trail regions of North Central Oregon near The Dalles, Oregon, a friend of mine and professor of photography at the college and high school in The Dalles, led me to several locations he knew of. This grouping of houses was accompanied with a dilapidated barn, to the right and unseen here. The woodwork in these homes are quite unique in today's standards. Mud placed between wood to keep out the cold of winter, modernization has brought civilization to its knees with nuclear accidents, grid system failures, fish loss due to hydroelectric power, and of course, SMOG from carbons. The simple life of once long past seems to be the way we should still live, though we would not have cameras and computers to share of our images of long past scenes such as this.
