Alcatraz Island
--------------------------------
is an island located in the San Francisco Bay, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) offshore from San Francisco, California.[1] Often referred to as The Rock, the small island early-on served as a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a federal prison until 1963.[2] Later, in 1972, Alcatraz became a national recreation area and received landmarking designations in 1976 and 1986.
Today, the island is a historic site operated by the National Park Service as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is open to tours. Visitors can reach the island by ferry ride from Pier 33, near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Alcatraz has been featured in many movies, TV shows, cartoons, books, comics, and games.

Hi Burak,
Nice blue sea with this pleasant ligt, a good presentation of this famous island, well in your composition the bird presence, interesting cotrast between freedom and the view of the prison.

Hello Burak,
Beautiful picture of this world famous prisoners island. Did you also visit the island? Lars and I didn’t. Too crowded.
The seagull is a beautiful detail of this picture. The symbol of freedom. The hope for the many prisoner’s future.

The most known prison island in the world, with several myth's and movies accounted for. Well taken a whole view, Burak, from a fairly good distance from.
The flying seagull is a bonus to the beautiful photo.

Hello Burak,
You had much better weather for your boat trip round Alcatraz Island than we had when we were there; cold and misty. Superb capture with excellent colours and clarity. The bird is a bonus, well placed and contributing to the sense of depth.

Un endroit mythique où plusieurs livres et films ont vu le jour.Un endroit que l'on vuet visiter mais avec la certitude qu'on peut en revenir. La mouettes est magnifique dans le cadrage.

D'un côté le voilier blanc, de l'autre la mouette dans le ciel et ce bleu qui se contraste avec le blanc quel équilibre dans l'image superbe.

Blue skies on a bright day and seagull rolling freely all lead to a rather stark scary & spooky place to be when it was in use. A reminder of the once infamous American penal system and you can see why it was such a formidable prison, this also reminds me of Robbeneiland in South Africa. Hard time served there by all accounts but now a tourist attraction!! 'Sean Connery in the movie, The Rock' Great informative capture, Congrats
