Photographer's Note
At dawn on a relatively warm summer day, we took a whale-watching excursion from Skagway, Alaska. A photograph I posted at the time appears at "Thar she blows...". Of course, what makes this photograph special is the backdrop.
Although I am an inveterate listener to classical music, I do have a few popular favorites. Years ago when I was at Oxford, the Greek-English singer, Cat Stevens, came to perform in the historic Oxford Playhouse at 11-12 Beaumont St. His program included one of my favorites: "Morning Has Broken," to listen, and if you'd like to sing along the lyrics appear below:
"Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass..."
Since I am incapable of carrying a tune, I will just listen to Cat Stephens. If you enjoyed "Dawn has broken..." let the Youtube program continue, and listen to him singing "It's a wild, wild world."

Dear Bulent,
At first (on the thumbnail) I haven't seen the mountain in the background. The misty hills enhance the composition. Nice job!
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Bülent,
Cat Stevens is actually Greek-Swedish-English, having a Swedish mother and spending part of his childhood in Sweden. Never mind, this is an amazing photo where the snow covering the huge mountain in the background could be taken for clouds. To me the dark water and the silhouette of the dark forest are just as important features, and I also like the almost monochrome tones of early morning.
Kind regards,
Gert

Yes, dear Bulent, that backdrop is most impressive. Also the light that seems to come from around the bend is really good.

Hello Bulent,
I just finished a book that was set in Alaska and in which the natural beauty of the state played an important role, so I really enjoy seeing this beautiful photo of the foggy silhouette of the impressive mountain behind the clear silhouettes of the pines. Very well spotted and captured.

Bonsoir, cher ami Bulent,
Il émane de cette composition une ambiance toute particulière qui ferait la part belle à une pochette de disque ou d'un livre en première de couverture.
Merci pour ce partage.
Amitiés.

Hi Bulent
Wonderful silhouettes of the conifer trees, but of course, as you say in the note, what makes this image really special is the mountain in the background lit by the morning sun.
Well-chosen title too, I like this song myself.
Best wishes

Hi Bulent
this landscape reminds me so much of what we see here locally in and around the shores of Vancouver. In fact, i thought thats where you took this one :)
here we have a photo that proves we don't always need strong bright lighting and illumination. here the darkness is the key, providing ample atmosphere and mood, its this darkness that sets the tone right away. I also like how you left some open water to the far left rather than cutting the scene off close to the shore. nice shot.
PS
if you like my previous post of Blarney Castle, you may enjoy my newest post of the same castle today :)
cheers

Hello Bulent,
I like the way the mountains are barely peaking through their foggy shroud, while the darker silhouettes of the trees stand out boldly. It looks like that particular morning was a very peaceful one. It's a lovely scene.
