Downtown Messages
There are many ways to get to know a city better. One of them is the messages that are visible in the city through all kinds of text. Today three examples of this. All three very different of each other.
Message 1: ”It's sink or swim and all the hard rocks drowned, I think if they get knocked down.”
A diptych of a remarkable mysterious message that I found on one of the pillars of the Andy Warhol bridge. On the internet a lot of photos and information from this bridge is available, but to my surprise I found nothing about this striking text and this mysterious hole. Hopefully Murat or someone else can solve this riddle.
Through the hole in the pillar the stadium of the Pittsburgh Pirates can be seen.
Message 2: "This message is NOT approved by Donald Trump."
This banner hung above the entrance to the Pittsburgh City Hall.
Since June of 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month has given people across the United States an opportunity to explore the unique story of America. Website "I Am an Immigrant"
Message 3: "Sorry there was no money in there for you! ☹ "
This message speaks for itself. I found the note stuck on a window of houseboat moored along the Allegheny river.

Hi Rob,3 interesting and curious messages, another great idea for a very different and original post. Funny idea the title talking about Trump for the immigrant month..ehehe...but very nice too the other too,i like especially "sorry,no money",while the most attractive composition is the main pic. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi Rob,
The message is an eye-catcher. The point of view is showing the details of the message and anf of the stadium through the hole in the metal. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Bonjour, cher Rob,
Très bon sujet et fort bien exploité comme à l'accoutumée.
Comme quoi, il faut avoir des yeux pour voir et un appareil photo pour immortaliser des moments originaux !
Très bonne journée.
Amitiés.

Hello Rob, Interesting messages found in the city. The first one is really mysterious. I can't understand what it is about. The second one about immigrants is nice and with the good title, the third is amusing.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hello Rob,
The first photograph didn't look that interesting as a thumbnail but, when linked to the notes and the w/s, it becomes a fascinating theme!
I wonder if the first massage relates to American football, as seen in the stadium! The hard rocks can't get up but the footballers can! Still ... not sure that it makes any sense but it is a fine photograph, sharp, with a message and a peep hole!
The other photographs are diverse examples of the theme and, you are right, they tell us something about the character of the people.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
Three rather odd photos today, of the kind that don't often find their way to TE. The message in the main photo is hard to understand, but the photo as such is a very original composition. It definitely caught my attention among the thumbnails. #3 is amusing, but I miss the reference to Trump in #2. Did you mix it up with another photo, or did you make up the title yourself?
Have a nice weekend,
Gert

Hi Rob
Great TE post with 3 different photos linked by the fact that they are all messages found in that city. I really like your creative approach in the main image, the hole makes for a good frame for the view in the distance.
Best wishes

Hi Rob
A superb trio of images with text. An interesting view through what looks like melted walls towards the bg stadium. Lol at the no money in my purse. They got what they deserved. The immigration welcome is in stark contrast to the views of Donald Trump. Tfs!

Hallo Rob,
Wellicht dat een lokale dichter zijn verzen op openbare plaatsten laat afdrukken. Het zijn twee mooie detailfoto's van de gele brug met het stadion van de plaatselijk honkbalvereniging ook op de achtergrond.

A sort of graffiti theme, when messages appear throughout town, Rob.
Most times just a note depicted, some other convey an attitude.
I like the "no money" sign on the riverboat, made me lough.
Wish you a nice weekend,
Ike

Mooie "collage" in de compositie, Lars. Niet alleen het (sterke) citaat, ook de kleur van de deur/hek (of wat het ook is) en de mooie doorkijk naar het sportstadium...het vormt een knap ensemble. Knap gezien!

Interesting messages, some are fun, but as we can see people communicate their thoughts in the traditional way, even in the Internet age

Hello Rob, this is so unusual and unexpected.
I love the way that the stadium can be seen through the hole in the metalwork; particularly the ragged edges!
The message is quite a riddle, who knows what it means.
A good theme today with the extra shots.
This is the one that I like the best.
Regards Jean.

Hello Rob,
Of course, I remember you taking this photo. I am more intrigued by the hole in the metal than the message.

Hello Rob,
What a curious urban image. The hole in the yellow bridge is odd, but it offers a nice view of the stadium. I hope the rest of this bridge is not also falling apart! I like finding sayings in unexpected places, too, although this one has a grammatical error near the end. :-)

Hello, Rob!
All three messages are very nice, I especially like the one of the purse, that is very funny too! But the main photo is the most beautiful of them, with the view of the city through the hole and well saturated colors that make it very attractive! Excellent job!
