Photographer's Note

For part of my life I lived in the American State of Arizona near Tucson, a modest city. Near by were miles and miles of the Sonoran Desert. From cold, high-desert mountains in the north to subtropical desert lowlands in the south.

This region is habitat for numerous species of cacti. The native cacti of Arizona vary greatly in appearance, yet each evolved similar features to thrive within the harsh environment. This photo shows a wide variation of vegetation - not often found elsewhere. Known for its tall, branching shape, the Saguaro is a true icon of the Arizona desert, seen top left. More views in the WS additions.

Watch your step - the Cacti have sharp sharp stickers and there are some challenging critters living on or below the ground here (snakes and scorpions - etc).

Bonjour, cher David,
Si je comprends bien, pour effectuer une balade il faut se munir de grandes bottes pour éviter tous les animaux rampants, les cactus méchants, les parties arbustives cachant des insectes peu amènes.
En tout cas, la beauté sauvage de l'ensemble est superbe. Donc, l'on regarde avec les yeux, mais l'on ne touche pas, et l'on marche avec les plus grandes précautions.

Hello dear David, I visited the Sonoran Desert in Arizona - I was in the Saguaro NP and Organ PIpe NP near the Mexican border. Fantastic view of all these big cacti in nature. Fascinating place and presentation.

Bonjour David,

Je vais dire comme toi, ce ne sont pas les cactus qui manquent dans ce cadrage très soigné qui jouit d'une très belle luminosité presque sans ombre.

Hi David,
Rocky landscape with all these spiky plants indeed gives an impression of a place where you have to move carefully. Saguaro cacti immediately connect this view to Arizona.

Hello David,
A beautiful desert landscape with still lots of green, some beautifully shaped rocks and some cacti as well. The blue sky adds a fine colour contrast in the background and also the clear sunlight was perfect.
