Photographer's Note

I reached this point in my hike of Paria Canyon and now had a decision to make. Do I remove my shoes and socks, roll up my jeans, and wade across the river? Or, do I turn back and look for a spot where exposed rocks will allow me to cross or there is a way up the cliff? You have to remember that it was the end of February in Arizona's high country with frost on the ground that morning. The water you see was snow the day before. Call me a wimp, but I turned and began searching for a set of convieniently placed stones.
