Photographer's Note

Hiking the Boulder Canyon Trail (#103) south from Canyon Lake Marina, your first obstacle is the steep ascent of Frog Peak. From atop the peak, looking south you look into Boulder Canyon and seriously debate whether you want to go all the way down there only to climb the peak, again, before descending back to the Marina. If you have the stamina, and plenty of water, it is possible to hike through the canyon and join the Lost Dutchman Trail to exit at the First Water Trailhead. Hopefully you will have a vehicle there as the one you left at the Marina is nearly 20 miles away by road.

For a sense of scale, there are a few people in the mid-ground left side. In the distance is Weavers Needle and the legend of a gold mine in its shadow.
