Photographer's Note

The start of another day and another hike. This image reminds me of Arizona's state flag, though it is supposed to represent Arizona's famous sunsets.

I entered Lake Pleasant Regional Park through its northern most access point, the boat launch area at its Aqua Fria River inlet. The boat launch can only be used when the lake is high and/or there is significant flow in the river. At the time I was there, the river was dry and the lake ended (started?) 5 miles downstream.

My hike's destination was Indian Mesa, a mesa topped with the remnants of an ancient, fortified, Native American village. The mesa is actually outside the Park's boundary on BLM land, but the boat launch is the starting point for the unofficial trail.
