Photographer's Note
Recently there was an exhibition by Mexican artists in Rockefeller Center. It included all kinds of mixed media: sculpture, digital displays, furniture, and, yes, laundry.
The 193 international flags that usually ring the ice skating rink were replaced by hanging clothes, and clothes lines were also strung across the main walkways.
This is the work of Mexican artist Pia Camil. It’s entitled “Saca Tus Trapos Al Sol (Air Out Your Dirty Laundry)”, and it includes more than 700 personal items from Mexico City residents. Each item is meant to represent a bit of personal history.
I was amused by the hanging laundry, and it made me question, once again, what the meaning of art really is. I guess one person’s old laundry is another person's masterpiece, showing that just about anything has the possibility of transforming into art. :-)
In the WS are two more views.

Ciao Brenda, great idea by this Mexican artist, an extremely rich and colorful laundry day, it certainly took a long time to build the whole scene, even if I think it was done randomly and not following a specific project..ehehe ..and as always your photos are the best way to enhance what you want to show us, 3 different perspectives with different backgrounds of very high quality !! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Brenda,
It is definitely not the dirty laundry that is being aired here! The many pieces of clothing are so bright and colourful and stand out well from the façades of Rockefeller Center. Nice inclusion of the people in the foreground as well.

Hello Brenda,
Sensational: laundry day in Rockefeller Center!
Manhattan has acquired a Mediterranean character.
When I first saw your main photo, it looked like you had passed a clothing stall at a market.
The variety of colours makes it a beautiful spectacle, as otherwise the many different flags provide a beautiful view.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Brenda
What I like most about this photo is that you captured those people sitting there taking no notice of the exhibit. A good well composed photo.
cheers

Hello Brenda,
I hope the art objects weren't dripping on the persons sitting below the exhibition. Both photos make me happy and excited because of the colors and life and the great idea of the artist. That's enough for me.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Brenda, the colourful clothing hanging in Rockefeller Centre must have been quite a surprise! It certainly makes for an interesting and unusual picture.
What a contrast to the usual collection of flags.
I like all three shots.
I wonder what other New Yorkers make of it?
Excellent.
Kind regards, Jean.

Dear Brenda,
It is quite a unique piece of art and at the same time it is very spectacular. The pink street furniture and the humans having a chill are nice additions.
Best Wishes,
Gy.
PS: Thank you very much for your kind words under one of my older photos.

Hello Brenda,
Nowadays we call more and more strange exhibitions art. I remember from my trips, for example, from Italy, as in some towns along narrow streets there were ropes on which people dried their laundry above the street.
Great daily life photo and the laundry added a lot of colors to your picture.
Best regards,
Zbigniew

Hello Brenda,
Strange that this laundry is there instead usual flags. Can one call it art? I have some doubts but it makes and interesting colourful photo. Pleasant relaxed atmosphere.

Hi Brenda
kind of ironic...as i'm writing this MY laundry is in the washing machine :) Perhaps I'm doing it wrong all these years!
haha. and yes...ART...don't even get me started on some of it, sometimes it goes too far - meaning its too simplistic but it's suppose to be 'great' and 'inspiring'...and i'm like..it's just a rock in the middle of an empty room, my 3 y/o could have done that. THAT"s the type of ART I don't like, so stupid. anyways...these kind of have a funy side to them, and its playful. makes for good photos too, so why not. cheers
