Photographer's Note
I wish I can get the whole reflection of this diving bird, but sometime I just have to settle for what I can get.
I capture this image about 7pm today at Bolsa Chica Wetland. This is the first time I saw this type of Tern and not sure it the same kind as the California Least Tern. Need help on the ID

Nice reflection the bird is just about to enter the water. I would be very interested in seeing the rest of his reflection and less than the stuff on top. A little sharper would also be good but it's difficult.
The the colors are good with the rich blue as the bakcground

What a fantastic shot! Congratulations. Don't know what type of bird it is, but I'd imagine there is at least one TE member that will be able to help you identify. Perfect timing, great colors. Good freeze on the frame. Best Regards, Linda

A great, lucky shot. Well done. To get an ID, try posting it on treklens and removing it here.

Excellent moment, frozen in time.
It actualy gives the image more dynamics to have more space above the bird.
I suspect it's actually a crop of the original image, but nevertheless, an excellent shot.
Post it to TL though.

The bomb-maker is back.
It's a shame that you didn't give us the entire reflection. But in this type of photography, you are my teacher! So I better trash my complaint...
Cheers!

Of course I would wake ngocson up early this Sunday morning to inform him about this posting. I guess he may want to request you to change the title into "The Missing Reflection" :-)

Dear Phan
How did you capture this great shot. I think you really are a big specialist for the bird flying shot. Best regards. Huy

Even without the complete reflection, I still adnmire your work.
Don't take what Chu Thanh may say about this great shot. I told him I would bring over to his house a 24-suitcase of Mehicanas cervezas, and the rib-eye steaks will be on him. We promise to not think about the bird while discussing about the dish or recipe, in honor of your artwork, even if it plunges straight down to our plate.
Will you join our party?

Hi Phuoc,
What a marvellous composition! The vivid colours, the contrast and the clarity and detail of the diving bird are very well captured and presented. This is first class work. As your note says, it would have been nice to capture the entire reflection, but this is such a difficult shot to catch in focus, that it is a major success. Great capture!

Nice reflection though I want to see the whole body of the bird reflected on the water. I know how hard is it to have a good focus on a moving subject. However, all in all the one you have here is something you can be proud of.

I have just viewed your bird photos and can only gasp in admiration; You must have taken lots and lots of shots to have so many good ones??
I understand if you are disappointed not to have the whole reflection on this one, but the shot of the bird in such a pose is enough for an excellent photo.(If the water was ruffled there would be no reflection at all :o) )

Great capture although it could be a bit sharper. I know what you mean about not capturing the whole reflection, as fast as those birds move you were lucky to get what you did!

Wow, you have a great talent for capturing wildlife at such interesting moments. That's great that you could capture this bird at the moment right before its beak breaks the surface of the water.

Tom

Nice shot Phuoc.
I like the timing very much, and the composition. A shame it isn't sharper, but under the circumstances well done.
Have a good day.
