Ciao Rosalie,
I'm not so good in portraits, so I'm always attracted when someone posts a really good one.
And this is the case, I appreciate the photo very much!
Contrasts and focusing are excellent, and I like the light reflecting in a different way on one eye and on the other.
Details in the face are very precise and clear.
Well done!

Hi Rosie,
I like this framing, tight cropping and a natural look of the girl with a minimum of make-up.
Who could resist her eyes and look?

Great eyes you have captured well composed well done dear. When first I saw this picture I think you might have captured so stunning eyes at f/1.4 or f/1.8 but you have clicked it at f/9, how you managed so shallow depth of field at so small aperture or did some side blurring in Photoshop, what ever you have done dear it is marvelous work thanks for sharing.

Great picture. I like the lighting. Nice shadows as well. I especially like the "window" reflected in her eyes. (The right one more then the left.)

I like the composition being off center Rosie. The sharpness with which you have captured her eyes is great. In fact the focus in this picture is what makes it for me...the chin has just the right of softness to make the eyes even more dramatic.
Looking forward to you SF photos.:)

Hi Rosie - a really nice portrait shot, very sharp & clear on her face, the detail in her eyes is really impressive. I'd really like to see this one in colour (if you've got a colour copy, any chance of a workshop...please?!).
If you don't already have one, I'd recommend Canon's EF 50mm f/1.8 lens as on your camera it'd give an (approx)86mm focal length - great for portraits & low light work. It's also really cheap, I got mine over here for €130 so it'd be less in the U.S.

as a portrait, this just doesn't lack the punch that many of your other shots have.
i really like the close up perspective and the tight cropping. but there's really not a lot to invite us into the shot.
