Photographer's Note
This is a shot through the fountain looking from the main house at Bayou Bend Gardens during the 2003 Azalea trail. I'll be interesting in hearing whether or not shooting through the foutain was a good idea or not.

Robert, I really like your floral photos, since you capture entire scenes, and not just a flower that could be anywhere (like my macros!) This is a lovely spot, but like other photos of this type, many details get lost, either by distance, light or camera settings. I'm still learning, so I tried a workshop on this one so you could see what I mean. And shooting through the fountain, I think, is a neat idea, but you have to be careful how you use it as a frame, and that it is not too big a distraction. :o)

i love that you shot this. i'm going there this next week and this was one of my ideas! i like the idea of shooting through the fountain. however, i think either use a slower shutter speed to blur the water a bit into streams or back up and get lower to get a clearer shot of the statue. the little water drops are a bit confusing.

Seems to be a really beautiful place.
I you can I think you should try to take the same picture either the morning or late in the afternoon. Then you will have a better light.
Maybe you should also choose to either put the statue in the center on totally on the right but not like that between the middle and the right.
And I think it was a good idea to shoot through the fountain

Very pretty colours and a good idea to have the statue through the fountain, but you lose the impact a bit, I think, because the source of the water is not seen. If you could be further away you may be able to capture the entire archway of water then it would look more complete. Good try though. Maybe you could do it again some day and post it.
