Photographer's Note
This is another shot taken at Lake Tohopekaliga, which is now drawn down many feet. This has been done in order to help dredge out the hydrilla and other weeds that were taking over the lake.
As I walked across the now, very dry lake bed, I saw this little boy with his family, and I snapped this shot as he leapt over a small hole. For a little guy he got some good air and jumped very well!
I cropped this shot, resized it, and worked on the clarity, saturation and sharpness.

Hi John, I would crop a lot tighter to focus on the boy. IMHO there is to much space around the centered boy. I make a workshop for you. Yours, Jan

It is very interesting to see a dry lake bed, and am glad you have captured it so well to show us. The addition of the little boy really adds a nice human element to this picture. Good capture of his motion whilst jumping. Well done.

great shot, i like the shadow of the kid, a closer image would be cool, then you could go for dof and he would look like star

Wonderful action shot, John. The dry lake bed makes for an interesting natural setting, and the little guy is captured in a good motion, and his shadow is a fine detail. Well done.

Good capture of this child having fun on the dry lake bed. You captured the moment well as he leaped here like he was leaping and bounding across the lake bed in a flash. Colors and sharpness are good, too. The crop idea as mentioned probably would help. You might not even have to go as tight as the suggestions. I think cropping the left out to about where they suggested and then cropping the top out and leaving just a bit of the former shoreline visible, so to remind us of what this is, would work well, too. But still a fun capture of him having fun while he can before this again becomes submerged.
And I understand from your intro that you're coming back up this way, so welcome back. You should be just in time for peak fall colors depending on where you're going, which is something that was probably missed in Florida. Southern Michigan and Ontario are just starting to turn now.
