Photographer's Note
Jordan Pond in Acadia Park, Maine. On our first morning there was heavy fog over the Bubble Rocks in the background. This made the scenery quite peaceful. Other pics taken on sunny day don't have this atmosphere.

Hi Nina. What a beautiful shot - a great example of "less is more". Love the simplicity of the composition and the presentation, the subtle colours and the moody light. I think I might just pop this one into my favourites:)

I haven't looked at any of your work for ages Nina. Please don't me upset when I say that I was surprised to find you as the author - this is at another level ;) If anything it would be even better to see a larger version.

As someone who has tried shooting this pond under seemingly more favorable (sunny) conditions, I have to say you've captured something that eluded me. Your photo has something of interest in all quadrants. You also have a visual rhythm (mainly evident in the stones to the lower right), a kind of ballast if you will, that makes it possible for other zones to be faintly visible, floating daringly close to emptiness. The sense of progression is from the relatively colorful ballast to the pale, nearly black-and-white fog--a progression from stones to immaterial. And that, after all, is what makes the Maine coastline (even at this pond) so rewarding to contemplate.

Hello Nina. The day seems cold, the light is soft. Your composition is good and the dark water, rocks and sky are great. Good job.

Lovely calm shot! I like the composition very much! I might have liked a little more contrast or saturation on the rocks in the foreground.
