Photographer's Note
This is the slough which leads out into the Toledo Bend Reservoir from the house we stayed near Many, Louisiana. This part of the state is called "Sportsman's Paradise," because of all the fishing and hunting. Here is the typical evening scene along the lake: a dad and his kids with cane poles, fishing for croppie as the sun goes down. It was so idyllic, and so very "Mayberry", I wanted to catch it and bring it home.
I didn't take this one with my own camera, so I wasn't sure of the settings. I've only sharpened it slightly here. I thought the composition was good, with the winding water and the reflections. Any and all comments and workshops welcome.

Lovely shot Michelle! IMO this (and Cypress Sunset) are probably your best yet! The soft pinks and greys of this subtle reflected sunset make the scene look positively idyllic. Congratulations, I love it :-D

Wonderful picture, perfect luminosity, I think it's a bonus to have the two men and boy in the piscture, lovely scene. I like the angle you chose and the tree on the upper left corner, very well seen.

It's simply beautiful, Michelle! Wonderful twilight colors of pink and gray - and beautifully relected in the water. Very good composition with "S-shaped" water, the trees to the right and the grass slope in foreground together with the branches above - making the main centered object appear off-centered. I agree with Adrian's opinion, that these two are your two best - so far... And here I wouldn't change a thing. Well done!

Love the gradiant colours of the evening sky which extend into the water's reflections. Good composition placing the mount of grass on the left, as it leads our eyes to the bend in the water, and then further out to the fishermen. Well done.

The point of land intruding into the water breaks up the line of sight and creates somwthing more interesting than just the water alone would have. The light is ideal, soft yet clear enough to bring out all the details. A good viewpoint and a great time of day for this scene, well done.

Michelle
This is one of the best S-curves I have seen on TE! The ambience and colours are great as well, as is the mood.

So crisp, so clear, just the right amount of color.
This shows a true part of America and a positive one. I feel this fits very well into the TE mission statement.

That is about as good as it gets! What a beautiful photo of this area in Louisiana. I have always wanted to visit that part of the country and your photo conveys perfectly the beauty that exists there. Very well done!

I agree with Kajenn - I perfectly see the "S". The soft colours really give the feeling of evening.

very peaceful picture
all the detail is captured in a triangle (top right, center left, bottom right) the other parts being the sky and its reflection.
I wouldn't know of any WS that could improve this shot.
thx

Thank you so much, Michelle, for your contact about Hurricane Katrina.
In fact, I read several accounts in Vietnamese reflecting the same content, but I only treated the sources with hesitance since the stories were mentioned within the chatrooms. Now that you gave me the news from a respectable source...
Thanks for your kindness, and your care about myself.
Sincerely,
MQ

An idyllic, quiet and peaceful late afternoon/early evening. The river bends into the slough. A good lead and then, the small touch framing on top left. Here it also shows how steady is your handhold.

Good photo showing daily life well with the folks fishing and enjoying a placid scene. This looks like a place far from the madding crowd where visitors can enjoy the place. The trees on the right are a key component and well proportioned by your positioning.

I love the curve of the land into the water and the reflection of the trees in the lake. Colors are subtle adding to the peaceful and inspiring image. Congrats!
