Photographer's Note
Gazing across the wide grey ocean
she chooses
to dream.
And without dreams and beautiful natural places to do so, where would we be?
This photo was taken at Daytona Beach a couple of years ago, and I don't remember which camera, but it was a digital. This is actually south of the more popular end of Daytona Beach where people drive on the beach and have no idea what an empty beach looks like. I really like the wistful look of this little girl, blissfully unaware that her picture was being made during a rare (for children at the beach) quiet and thoughtful moment.

Nice composition, I like the pose of the kid, her shadow, looking at the ocean peacefully. Nice shot.

I love the way she sits with her feet tucked under her, the way children do. And yes, you can tell she's thinking some big thoughts for such a little girl. Nice composition Michelle - she's perfectly placed. Some slight technical problems maybe but I don't care too much about that...

Adorable! This is a beautiful picture, her pose is perfect, and you caught the breakers at a good time. Some pixilation maybe, but the elicited emotion overwhelms the technicalities.

A great capture, Michelle. At this angle she is dwarfed by the sea coming it. I like the way her shadow is 'reaching out' to the sea. Lovely colours. Very well seen and captured.

Great photo Michelle! I love the innocence and hope... (and the general blue tones...).
I was over at Daytona Beach this summer. I don't know if it was something about the beach, or just the fact that I left NYC for the first time after a very intense year, but I really felt what freedom is like there - I was running around with my kite as if I were a kid - a great place... Thank you for the photo and for bringing back those wonderful memories...

I like the way the child poses, a real peaceful picture, and yes leading to dream.

I love this pic, Michelle. It brings me a real emotion.
If I try to explain why it is a good pic in my opinion, I'm afraid that I will loose this emotion while talking about technics.
So this time, I'll just say that it is a very touching one, taken with sensitivity. Thank you...

Que c'est mignon cette petite fille qui contemple l'océan, la composition est parfaite, la bambina est placée sur un point fort de l'image.

Reminders of a sandy holiday taken many moons ago in Cornwall...infinite amounts of flat sand, but with weather that could turn dodgy in less than five minutes!
Nicely composed Michelle....well done!
