Photographer's Note

Fully ripe grapefruit, from January - the trees in Central Florida only carry small green fruit now, which will grow through the summer and autumn, becoming ripe and ready to eat by next winter. I do still see trucks carrying huge loads of oranges this time of year from other areas, so we do still have lots of ripe fruit before summer's heat.

This is the companion to my other photo, Grapefruit from Florida, where you can see the blossoms and young growth of this large citrus fruit. Very healthy fruit, and the best tasting ones are the older varieties which have lots of seeds in them. I think that's why most people prefer to just drink the juice. Yes, we do have an electric juicer in the house, and we do use it. With all the varieties of citrus growing sweet from December to February around here, we have a lot of juicing to do!

I only sharpened this one.
