Pizza Pirate, a photo from Texas, South

Bluejays are native to the eastern 2/3 of the United States and have often been called peanut pirates for their love of peanuts. This one, however, seems to like pizza crusts even more. I'll often put out both peanuts and pizza crusts and this one (or maybe more than one?) always goes for the pizza first!

Often it will grab an entire crust and fly off with it, which it did right after I snapped this picture. Since bluejays are known to bury and stash caches of seeds (like squirrels), I suspect somewhere in the neighborhood there is a small stash of pizza crusts.

Nice one... He does seem very adamant about getting this pizza crust... The photo lacks sharpness and contrast though...

We have a b/w version in Denmark called magpie (pica pica) and it is a thief just like this one. Very nice picture and a funny situation showing these nature of this birds. Never mind the missing sharpness in such a picture.
