Photographer's Note

I very seldom am on the east side of San Francisco Bay as the sun sets into the Pacific Ocean to the west. This evering, after spending the afternoon in the East Bay, I took the last exit before crossing the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, an exit I'd never taken before. I made more than one wrong turn as I negotiated my way through property with prominent "No Trespassing" signs until at last the narrow road brought me to the side of a hill overlooking the bay and offering dramatic views of both the bay and Marin County hills. The sun was in descent but I wasn't paying too much attention to that as I checked out the shoreline and the Richmond hills to my right. The road eventually led to a poorly maintained marina with more houseboats than sailboats. I turned around intent on heading home and calling it a day. When I topped the hill again I saw the sun coming close to the edge of a fog bank rolling over the crest of hills in Marin. I stopped and took this shot. I hadn't intended to post anything from today's shooting, but this was simply too stunning to keep to myself. I hope you enjoy this Marin County sunset as well.

This image was cropped, framed and sharpened before sizing for upload.

NOTE THE WORKSHOP in which I lighten the fog bank a bit. See what you think...
