Photographer's Note

This is a view of the scenic road winding through Nevada's Valley of Fire State Park. When I took this photo I had in mind the Summer 2004 scavenger hunt, "A Pathway or Roadway Leading to a Vanishing Point".

For those interested, Valley of Fire State Park was Nevada's first State Park. It was dedicated in 1935 and is located less than an hour northeast of Las Vegas. In addition to unique rock formations there are numerous spots with Native American petroglyphs as well as surprisingly plentiful wildlife. While I visited the park just a few days ago I highly recommend people visit during the spring or winter. Even in the early morning it was well over 100°. The summer heat really kept my exploration limited.
