Photographer's Note
I thought this would give a good symmetry picture. I should have waited for the boat to move out of the back ground.

The symmetry is well seen, my credits for that. The boat actually does not feel that disturbing, it was part of the moment... Perhaps a lower angle would intensify the row of phone boxes (they would raise a bit higher above the horizon). Also a smaller depth of field with focus on the symmetry would increase your choise of subject.

The boat is not disturbing at all. would not have noticed it if you haven't pointed out.
I think the sky is taking too much space on the photo. As said before a lower angle could be a solution so the booths would occupy sky.

Very nice. I agree that you should have waited for the boat to get out of the frame.

I would crop this to panorama-print dimensions. This is the kind of shot where a circular polarizer might have been useful to prevent the washed-out look to the sky.

Shooting at a lower level would have given more power to these phones, but would also have create some perspective aberrations not compatible with the symmetry you would like to express. Yes, the boat is disturbing, and I agree with Edwin about DOF... a blurred background would have been better. This is a kind of scene where you should shoot from all positions and with different apertures to find out which one works the best.
