Photographer's Note

Maybe you remember my several posts of the Crystal Cathedral, in the city of Garden Grove, California.
Today I present the cemetery on the campus of the megachurch. It is mostly a garden (Memorial Gardens) with a few walls with niches for urn placement (see workshop for a detail), but there are also lawn crypts.
According to, this "world-class cemetery" is "open to all those who wish to be buried in this special place". But privilege has a price:
- "A family crypt with 8 burial spaces" beneath some statues: $750,000.00.
- "Our state-of-the-art lawn crypts": from $9,750.00 to $11,750.00. "Marker and inscription fee is $600.00. Opening/closing fee is $650.00 per placement."
- "Wall crypts, for above ground casket entombment in our mausoleum": from $8,500.00 to $16,750.00.
- "Niches, for urn placement": from $1,400.00 to $4,850.00.
But if you'd like to pre-plan for your own burial and funeral needs, Crystal Cathedral Ministries offer you "financing to fit every budget. After a 20% down payment, you may chose from 120 days, no interest, or 1–5 years at 10% interest."
This shot was taken from a high floor of the Welcome Center. See the whole campus, including cemetery, in a photo of a model of the compound. Or click here.
You may wish to compare this cemetery with my previous posts in Europe and Africa.
Uma curiosidade para os portugueses: afinal a família Salazar também arranjou uns trocos para um lugarzinho mais perto do céu californiano :-) Vejam o workshop.
