Hartley Park is one of Duluth's many large city parks. One of the most wonderful things about Duluth is how the North Woods are brought into and through the city itself.

This park was originally a farm on the outskirts of the city. The farm was abandoned after being rezoned and annexed into the city. Once it was abandoned the city claimed the land and turned it into a large park.

Hartley park is 660 acres of forested hills and wetlands with some incredible views and a large trail system. On our first visit to the park we ended up walking a cross country ski trail through a thick bit of forest .. I left thinking .. where were the scenic views people were raving about .. we found them on our second visit.

The centerpiece of the park is the Hartley Nature Center which has numerous activities and programs throughout the year:
