Photographer's Note
A Beach Boys style scene from the era of hippies and surfers. But as we are in Australia, the car isn't Chevy or VW Kombi but a Holden. Australian brand, but a subsidiary of General Motors already since 1931.

Hi Kari,
An excellent "oldies" shot! The car looks pretty run down and that color defintely dates back to the 60s or 70s. I like your compo including the surfer in the background.
Cheers.

Hi Kari,
I think when I was in primary school I used to get a ride to school from my neighbor in a car looking like this ... same color too. Many Holden used to be seen on Malaysian road in the sixties. Interesting subject in beach setting ... nice soft colors. colors. Regards. Latiff.

Hi Kari.
A nice shot, I know the australian brand Holden. I doesn't matter that the car's front is closer to the frame. It's a great shot.
Best regards.
Bobo.

Terve Kari,
LOL nice Aussie oldie you found there, great vintage value and I love the detail of the surf brett on it, makes it lively. Fully centered though...
Have a nice evening JY

Hello Kari! The good old Holden, I am surprised to see that this vehicle still drives :) When I was in Australia all the Swiss tourists were buying Holdens at some Swiss mechanic in Sydney and the good thing was that you could sleep inside and had not to put up a tent for the night. Oh dear, this reminds me when I was hitch hiking through Australia, what a crazy time, my parents nearly died, I was hardly 20 :) Holden drivers were always on the doll, not working but enjoying beach life at the fullest.
Take care, have a good night, Barbara.

Hi Kari, good shot of the "Hippie Holden". I hadn't even heard of Holden before I came to Australia, but yes they're GM, and very much like a Chevy. This is an older classic that you found here, being put to good use. Surfing is very much an institution here as well. And I just noticed it's up in front of a Norfolk Island Pine, an import but these have been here since the British first landed. This is a very "Australian" photo.
Thanks, John

Hi Kari,
Charming little four door sedan perfect for a nomadic surfer. Very clear colors and excellent sharp details to this old time beauty.

HI Kari
Just thought I'd look at some of your older Aussie photos. I couldn't go past this one. My dad used to have a Holden sedan exactly like this, so it's good to see this one is still loved by some surfie dude. Excellent positioning of the car within the frame, lovely colours and good depth which allows us to see some of the details of "Palmy".
Warm regards and TFS
Lisa
