Photographer's Note

Another view of Sydney harbour taken from the ferry as we went to Taronga zoo for the day. On the left is Fort Denison. The fort is a Martello design and was completed in the 1850's, it was commisioned to protect the young British colony of Sydney from a possible Russian invasion. The fort contains 3 x 8 inch (200mm) cannon which were installed before the stonework was complted in 1857. The fort is constructed entirely of sandstone, 8,000 tons quaried the nearby fromnearby mainland and the walls are 4m thick. Like the cannon installed to protect Wollongong harbour see here , the fort was redundant by the time it was finished.
The shot was cropped and rotated to straighten the horizon, sharpened with USM (50,1,1) and resized for TE.
