Photographer's Note

Four Mile Beach is the main attraction in Port Douglas. A white sand beach just a couple of minutes walk from the main road in the town. At the town end there is a rocky headland and a netted area to keep the stingers out in the wet season, at the far end mangroves. Crocodiles are rarely seen there. Walking up and down the beach seemed to be one of the main activities for those not inclined to more stenuous pursuits (don't ask me what the more strenuous pursuits were...)
