Photographer's Note
Sydney's spectacular opera house. Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, its construction took place between 1958-1974. It is meant to simulate the sails of sailboats. I had always wanted to see this edifice where my favorite operatic soprano Joan Sutherland performed.
I am eternally grateful to Lisa Delpeoples and Murray Lines who gave so much of their time to show us their beloved city. For this photo, Lisa drove us across Sydney Harbor Bridge to the north shore, and on a dark parking lot allowed me to set up my camera on a wall to produce a series of time exposures. With the lens on my camera extended to 70 mm, I could get a perfect view of the Opera House, without the bridge above it, as was the case in The Bridge and the Opera. The streaks of light are created by a the lights of a passing boat.

Bonsoir, cher ami Bulent,
Il est plus rare de voir l'opéra de Sydney la nuit. Ces grandes conques semblent sortir de terre ou de mer !
Le résultat est spectaculaire.
Amitiés.

Hello Bulent, I know well how kind and generous Lisa is - she went with me at sunrise and at sunset to show me the best places for pictures. It is meant to simulate the sails but how to construct it? As the story goes, during a lunchroom conversation the team observed how nature forms a simple geometric shape from segments of an orange. When the team analyzed the sails in this new light, as segments of a perfect sphere, their tumblers clicked into place and the key to solving the problem was seen. They now knew how to design the sails! Spectacular night shot.

Hi Dr. Bulent,
Pretty night shot of the Opera House, the soft brown tone is very appealing to me.
Meeting fellow TE members is really a great experience and share a hobby you both enjoy. Indeed, these are also one I always look forward to.
Kind regards,

Majestic night shot, Bulent, and no-matter how many POV's I see on TE about this, always fascinationg.
Fine technically, no excessive bulbs-glare and immaculate clarity, no "grains" - and an inclusive view upon.
My best regards,

Hello Bulent,
Nice late evening picture of the famous Sydney Opera House in beautiful light. Maybe cropping the bottom side of the picture (making it a panorama view) is an alternative.
Well done,
Huub

Hello Bulent,
The illuminations are wonderful here, not too strong, they just highlight the main parts of the iconic roof of the opera house in a perfect way. Excellent night photo with very good sharpness.

Hello Bulent
It is indeed a fine building, and you've given us a memorable vision of it. We stayed at a friend's apartment on Elamang Avenue, Kirribilli, just near here, and had this view every night. It truly is an astonishing piece of architecture.

Hello Bulent,
Beautiful dark image with the famous building of Utzon pudent coming out of the dark of the night. The light explosion on the right tells where the place to be is.
A little bit too expensive (14 times the original budget) but an icon as well known as the Eiffel tower and the Liberty Statue.

Dear Bulent
Ahh I was looking forward to seeing the results of your nocturnal labours and here we have a beautiful tribute to our Opera House. It is indeed a fine building and you have done it proud. Aswell as leaving me with many happy and unforgettable moments.
PS: I have added a Workshop of a photo taken of the creator of the Opera House, Jorn Utzon. The photo was taken by a family friend of mine, Joseph Visser. The photo itself is iconic and ground-breaking for its time.
Warmest regards and hugs to you both

Hi Bulent,
It seems this building looks beautiful at every time of the day and night. My personal favourite are the blue hour photos but I know how challenging it is to be there at a perfect moment. So although this appears a bit too dark for me I would love to have this photo in my collection too. Amazing POV, and I hear you wear in a great company too.
Very well done,
M

Hello Bulent,
I have seen this from the air in 2012 on a flight from Shanghai to Sydney and again from Sydney to Brisbane. It looks spectacular from almost any angle. I have seen in close up in the 70's a s well. Good sharpness for a night shot. Tfs!
