Photographer's Note
This wild West Coast is within an hours drive of city centre of Auckland. This is the Tasman Sea - next stop Australia 2000kms away. This photo was taken from the cliffs above Mercer Bay close to the surf beach of Piha. We often take our clients walking along these cliffs & two days before the sea was flat calm, not a ripple upon the surface which is unusual. Mercer Bay, down below, is only accessible by a steep hazardous cliff scramble, or from the sea - not recommended on this day!

Hello Neil,
This is a nice place, with nobody on the beach...
The composition is good with that grass on the foreground.

Hi Neal,
A beautiful view of that narrow line that separates land from ocean. A very good depth with the foreground vegetation.
Kind regards

Bonjour Neil
Bon choix du format vertical pour nous faire découvrir cette immense plage et le mouvement des vagues au travers d'une végétation exotique pour moi.
Amitiés et bon week-end.

Kia Ora dear Neil
I was just thinking this week that it was time I re-visited Aotearoa once again, and your stunning photo has confirmed my decision. What beautiful, rugged and untouched coastline this is. I adore this type of seascape. As beautiful as the European beaches and even the coasts of Ireland & Britain are, they lack the wildness that is such a trait of the Aussie and Kiwi coasts. In fact, they're almost insipid in comparison.
You chose the vertical frame well, I love how the greenery in the FG frames the scene naturally and draws the eye in. The image is composed superbly in Thirds and I love the play of steel blues and greys. The reeds blowing in the wind also give us this sense of isolation. I feel like I'm standing on the edge of the world when I see this.
Thanks for sharing, have a great evening
Lisa
