Te Mata dawn, a photo from Hawkes Bay, North Island

Photographer's Note

Hawke Bay from the top of Te Mata peak (400m.) after sunrise. This is a wine making region on the east coast of the North Island. The first rays of sunlight after 4 days of horrible weather. There is a road to the top of the peak from Havelock North. There was a also a young couple watching the sunrise at the top, the men was imitating the mooing sounds made by the cows at the bottom and his girlfriend found this so funny, she kept laughing outloud, a shrill and high octave laugh that was probably audible in Papua New Guinea, which did not agree with my 6:00AM hangover. Much as I wanted to push them off the edge of the cliff, I didn't. Instead I took photos.

Once again it's a wonderfull picture, here le cloud seems to be alive, moving throught the reliefs and the courbs. It's brings shadows, that give deppth to the details, the warm lightgive golden tone to the strong colors. It's very well done. I will just try a WS in oder to see if I can get a sharpen picture

Nice photo ... I love the colours in this one ... excellent work mate ... the clouds give a very mystical outlook ... I love this.

You say on your intro page that you do not use a digital camera ... so I was wondering the secret of your scans ... which scanner do you use? ... I find that I loose a lot of quality on a photo even though I scan at high resolutions

Now I know why you consider going to Ladakh in October as a sensible thing (reading about this loud couple .. lols) ... very few people over there for sure around that time ... and the best time to go is ofcourse in the winters when it is even hard to find any hotel open .... one just has to crash in with the locals and live the way of life the Ladakhi way

Very striking shot! The sweeping curve of the hills is accentuated by the light and of course the fog in the valley. The colour is very vibrant - that green really leaps out at me! Excellent shot!

Bad morning huh? Yeah...it gets to me too, when seeing a beautiful scenery, there are those within sight or hearing, that don't care much about being quiet and appreciative.

But this is a beautiful morning to wake up to...a green morning lit valley face with the evanescing morning mists rolling in.

What an impressive aerial view. It seems you shot it while you were flying over this valley... it is a good sensation at the moment I have seen this landscape, maybe created by the POV you used, without having any rock in the foreground.
The low fog at the bottom of the valley is really amazing and it creates an interesting atmosphere.
You chose the correct choice! to take this great shot instead of
"pushing people" down to the cliff.

Another magnificent shot which I've overlooked. Looking at this shot, there really is no wonder why New Zealand is soooo popular with film makers. Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai, and the upcoming King King; all making use of the spectacular scenerey New Zealand provides. I love how the clouds just sit in the valley.

I like the nice movement of the clouds over the valley, it leads the eye perfectly.

Wow. The clouds look supernatural. You can see from this photo why the Maori name for New Zealand is Aotearoa 'Land of The Long White Cloud'.

It's a beautiful shot. The green is so vivid.
