Photographer's Note
This is a shot of the elevator in the building housing our hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was a small boutique hotel in Microcentro, the central district of the city, and it occupied the 3rd and 4th floors of the building only. This antique elevator ferried guests from street level to the lobby and back down.
On our first night there, I tried to capture its motion and light, and came up with this - a simple introduction to Buenos Aires, but at least the colors are warm!

Hello Andrew,
The contrasts between dark areas and the different kinds of light make this picture quite dynamic. The fine details of the railings along the steps also tell us this is an old and antiquated building, which to me adds an excting feeling of being in a new and unknown big city. I wouldn't say that Buenos Aires is very high on my list of places I have to see, but it's there somewhere.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Andrew
I like the way you have captured the warm golden light of the elevator here and composed the downward perspectival lines of the elevator within the graphic shape of the hand rail. Nice capture of the lifts movement too.
For me its the shape of that hand rail into the upper left corner that really adds something here. The shot would not be the same without it or the light area which repeats the shape below it in the way it frames the stairs. Lots of great contrasting shapes and areas of light and dark which create a greater whole.
Nice image.

Hi Andrew,
Once again, a very nice picture of yours. I like the fact that we can see the movement of the elevator. The light is great, particularity the in the elevator and at the bottom of the stair.
Great picture.

Hi Andrew,
I think that this shot is quite cool, with a strong contrast of colours between the cold grey staircase and warm glow coming from the elevator.
The slight moving blur is the detail that I like the most, as it drags the attention towards the center of the image and of course, brings movement and dynamism to your composition.
Well done.

Hello Andrew
Interesting balance of different light sources and good sense of depth from this viewpoint. Unusual and slightly mysterious.

Hi: Andrew
Excellent attempt shooting downwards from an unusual angle, off-centre resulting in an interesting perspective which makes for a strong enough composition. It is the combination of warm glow, natural light, shadow and shapes caught my attention. You have captured this in the best of day light naturally filtering through and really make the most of the opportunities.
This is impressive, made even more so by the simplicity of viewpoint playing counterpoint to the classical staircase, enhanced by ambient light and producing great detailed shadows. What a great shape, lines combination, crispy sharp and striking contrast and lots of dynamics with that sense of movements. An eye-catching rendition of this indeed and this has great dimension too. Great work, Congrats
Warm regards

montevideo and buenos aires have interesting old buildings lost in the time. nice use of the graphism of the structure. I liked the golden light in the middle of this greyish mood around. TFS.
