Photographer's Note

La Paz is one of the most spectacular cities I have seen in my travels. At an altitude of 3650m it is the worlds highest capital city, and also has the worlds highest airport. (4080m) Flying in at this altitude can (and did in my case) induce altitude sickness. Luckily the airport is well equipped with oxygen masks and wheel chairs. The one advantage of succumbing to altitude sickness is bypassing the long immigration queue. :)

I like this shot as it shows the immensity of La Paz. The city sprawl goes on and on for miles. This view is even better at night, although none of these shots came out.

I like the tones of this photograph. Very surreal. It seems like something in a film that has been modified. The city really fills the foreground nicely. Rising up the hill and filling the falley. Great terraces. The curving road is a nice path for the eye to follow to that perfect backdrop, those soaring peaks. It really does show the sprawl since all these buildings appear to be a good size yet appear so small in this overall scheme. Very nice.

What an amazing place - I'd love to go there. I love the light and shade in this shot and the moody sky sets it all off beautifully. Nice depth with the mountains in the background too.

I love La Paz, a very nice and impressive city. unfortunatly I got robbed there, but it can ahppen anywhere. All my photo equipment was robbed as well as a lot of my exposed films.. So I don't have a lot to post on TE from Bolivia.
Very nice view here.

Waouh brendan! this is an incredibly beautiful shot IMO!:-) almost looks unreal with the light on the city and this blurred skyline with the andes... Ilove it! congrats!
