Another capture from this amazing place. This time no framing to be able to post a panoramic version (click the image to see it - you might even spot some llamas).

The lake water contains many minerals and metals. High levels of iron, manganese and zinc and color can be attributed to runoff from
abandoned mining sites in the Milluni Basin.

The intriguing underwater river is actually a real river what makes it's way in the dry lake bed when the water level drops. This lake is one of the major water sources for the city of La Paz - of course the water goes through a treatment process.

Colours are real - Polarizer filter causes the water to look so dark by removing the reflection from the sky.
