Guaratuba Bay, a photo from Parana, South

Photographer's Note

With only 90km of sea coast, the state of Paraná has two bays. The bigger, and most important, is the Bay of "Paranaguá", because of its size and its port, the state's door to send grains to the world. The other bay is "Guaratuba", a smaller bay. To the south part of this bay entrance, there is a city of "Guaratuba", and to the north part is "Caiobá", and I already had some photos posted from there, also recently my 400th post. There´s no bridge from one side to the other and we have to take a ferry boat to cross. There are still many fishermen living in the bay, with their canoes and not too much else. The nature is really beautiful and it is a good place to burn some memory cards.
I´ve used 1/500 here just because I was shooting the birds.

Wow, superbe photo. Les oiseaux sont exactement dans le bon angle et se découpent merveilleusement bien sur le ciel sombre. L'eau argentée met aussi en valeur les personnages dans la barque. Bravo

Hi Jose,
I love your composition, the water and boat at the bottom of frame balances the large amount of sky and mountains perfectly. The light on the birds is beautiful, especially against the cool blue tones of the mountains and sky.
Superb capture in every respect.

perfect timing for this shot, I like a lot the feeling of two directions of "movements" - the boat and the birds - colliding and then going in opposite directions. the clarity is superb, and silvery colour of the water creates an impression the boat is floating in milk :)) great shot, I like it.

That row of birds is just at the right moment, and I love that they are in an exact line ending just where the boat is beginning...boat and birds intercepting one another making for a perfect composition. Just a wonderful scene well timed.

Hi, Jose. The birds are the real eye-catcher in this picture. The background is quite dark and they stand out very well against it. The composition is very good with the boat creating another point of interest to balance the picture. The men's colourful clothes contrast well with the overall colours.

Gostei imensamente desta foto, o ângulo tomado deu um reflexo na água que ficou prateada, combinou com os pássaros. Prata e azul, com o barco e as pessoas quase em silhueta, mas com as cores bem definidas. A luminosidade está mágica.

Falando sério, a composição está fabulosa. De fato, Guaratuba parece ser um lugar belíssimo.

Como é que você consegue essas imagens? O barco está em movimento, as aves estão em movimento e você teve uma enorme presença de espírito pra antever o momento. Parabéns!

Puxa, que efeito de leveza, suavidade de movimentos e síntese gráfica. Concordo com a Kristine: a composição é muito boa por trazer dois elementos silhuetados, supernítidos, em forte contraponto diagonal e, ainda, movendo-se em sentidos opostos. Gosto muito da luz suave, do fundo plúmbeo azulado, da serenidade no vôo das aves, da pachorra dos barqueiros. O posicionamento dos elementos e o contraste estão simplesmente excelentes. Mandei para os favoritos.

muito boa a sua perspicacia em colocar 1/500s. Nao somente pelas aves em pleno voo mas tambem para minimizar os efeitos de tremor quando usando um zoom la pelos 300mm. A baleza das maquinas fotograficas mais novas e que voce pode ajustar a maquina em momentos como estes o ISO para 800 ou ate mesmo 1600 sem perder qualidade! Algo completamente inimaginavel com essa sua Canon 400D ou com a minha velha D200.
Belo registro da vida selvagem e o pescador pacato a sobreviver com trablaho diario.

It's looks so 3 dementional, Feel as if the bird will fly out of the iamge and the people are also really sharpe. the softer background help make it even more so. Really great quality and composition is beautiful and that make it one of the few great one I seen here.

Good composition, your 1/500 seconds worked very well capturing the birds in perfect sharpness, the boat off center produces a nice balance, lovely DOF with the mountains disappearing with the mist. Very good shot.
