Series on my short trip to PORTO ALEGRE (JOYFUL HARBOR), the CAPITAL CITY of the STATE of RIO GRANDE DO SUL (SOUTHERN BIG RIVER), the most Austral State in Brazil - from January, 16th to 18th, 2015 - #001 !
A LARGER VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL POST !
A REGIÃO CENTRAL VISTA DE UM PASSEIO DE BARCO !
DOWNTOWN SEEN FROM A BOAT RIDE !
My first trip to PORTO ALEGRE was back in 1988! I traveled all by myself, by bus, to many places in Southern Brazil (the States of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul).
In 2002, while traveling by car from Campinas to Buenos Aires, I just passed by this city.
This third time, I came by plane and it was supposed to be a short trip to take some digital pictures of the city for the first time!
I took a lot and I'll share many with you all here on Trek Earth, from now on, all of them mixed with all the other places I've been to lately.
I'll also write more data about the city in the next pictures.
"Porto Alegre (local Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpoɾtʊ aˈlɛɡɾɪ] ( listen);[1] Joyful Harbour) is the capital and largest city in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Founded in 1769 by Manuel Sepúlveda, its population of 1,509,939 inhabitants (2010) makes it the tenth most populous city in the country and the centre of Brazil's fourth largest metropolitan area, with 4,405,760 inhabitants (2010). The city is the southernmost capital city of a Brazilian state.[2]
Porto Alegre was founded in 1769 by Manuel Jorge Gomes de Sepúlveda, who used the pseudonym José Marcelino de Figueiredo to hide his identity; but the official date is 1772 with the act signed by immigrants from the Azores, Portugal. In the late 19th century the city received many immigrants from other parts of the world, particularly from Germany, Italy and Poland. The vast majority of the population is of European descent.
The city lies on the eastern bank of the Lago Guaiba (Guaiba Lake), where five rivers converge to form the Lagoa dos Patos (Patos Lagoon), a giant freshwater lagoon navigable by even the largest of ships. This five-river junction has become an important alluvial port as well as a chief industrial and commercial center of Brazil." Wikipedia with corrections

Hello Neyvan,
It's a very colorful and graphically attractive composition with the low yellow and red buildings and yellow cranes along the water and the skyscrapers behind. The three speedboats form a superb foreground and add a strong sense of motion.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Neyvan
That's an impressive skyline and wonderfully colourful too. Great timing to capture the city with the lively addition of the guys on the jet skis. This is not a city I am at all familiar with so extra cool to see this photo
Cheers

Hi Neyvan,
Un très bon point de vue sur la ville avec son alignement d'immeubles colorés qui créent un bel impact graphique. Les scooters des mers en premier plan apportent de la vie à la scène. Belle prise, bravo!
Bon dimanche mon ami.

Ola Neyvan,
Picturesque view of the city. The buildings are very spectacular. Also, the people riding the water jets are the necessary dynamics in this composition. Good work!

Hello Neyvan.
Fantastic composition, with the median plane, showing us a nice skyline of the city, I like the variety of color tones in buildings makes them more cheerful, sensational moment with these three jet skis you've captured in the image.
Very good color which gives much appeal to the image.
Magnificent management brightness, sharpness is also perfect to enjoy with the details.
Very well seen and well taken.
Have a nice day.
Best wishes.
Luis.

Hello Neyvan,
I have found through trial and error that using the sports section of my digital camera will freeze a moving fg or subject to give a sharper image than a landscape setting. The 3 jetboats at right enliven the scene but are unsharp. You could also go the other way and use a higher fstop with a longer exposure time so that they become motion blurred streaks of color. The bg city makes a superb backdrop. Tfs!

bem feito.
abraços

Hello Neyvan,
this is a fascinating scene, captured with great timing in a very effective composition. I like how the compact and solid cityscape fills the background and there are interesting details and suggestive contrasts to observe. The warm tones and the grey ones make an original and moody combination and the three jet skis darting into the frame are so eye-catching. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
Ourania
