(Series on my Trip to ARACAJU - THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE STATE OF SERGIPE - THE NORTHEASTERN REGION - BRAZIL - From December 11th to 19th - #006!)

FEIRA !
STREET MARKET !

A whole week with my parents in the city of ARACAJU - SE!
Getting to know one more capital city of the Northeastern Region of my Country!

Almost the end of my stay there, I went back to downtown again (I don't visit those places only for their beaches)! A very hot saturday afternoon, close to Christmas, the streets were completely crowded! Like in many brazilian cities, people go shopping and others try to earn some extra money in a informal street market! Here, A MAN AND HIS COCONUTS!

Downtown streets in brazilian cities have become places for cheaper and, sometimes, lower quality stores and products! Malls and shopping centers, usually in the outskirts, are places for more expensive and fancier stores and products! Rio, São Paulo, Campinas, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte... all of them have similar looks when talking about downtown streets!

"SERGIPE is the smallest state of the Brazilian Federation, located on the northeastern Atlantic coast of the country. It borders on two other states, BAHIA in the south and west and ALAGOAS in the north and in the east on the ATLANTIC OCEAN. ARACAJU is the capital and the largest city of the state." Wikipedia

My opinion:
The Northeastern Region in Brazil is today the most fast growing and developing region in the Country! Its major cities (mostly capitals) are getting more modern, larger and better day after day! Sometimes that's no good because of the traffic complications, pollution, poverty, slums and violence! Going towards the west, unfortunately, the place is STILL so dry and hard for its inhabitants! It seems that nothing or very little has been done to improve that situation, though millions and millions of dollars were supposed to be invested during decades (I listened to that since I was a child), but they all went to the pocket of a few rich ones (there: farmers, entrepeneurs and politicians - maybe the three things at the same time)! A real shame!
