My first trip to PORTO ALEGRE was back in 1988! I traveled all by myself, by bus, to many places in Southern Brazil (the States of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul).
In 2002, while traveling by car from Campinas to Buenos Aires, I just passed by this city.
This third time, I came by plane and it was supposed to be a short trip to take some digital pictures of the city for the first time!
I took a lot and I'll share many with you all here on Trek Earth, from now on, all of them mixed with all the other places I've been to lately.
I'll also write more data about the city in the next pictures.

"Porto Alegre (local Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpoɾtʊ aˈlɛɡɾɪ] ( listen);[1] Joyful Harbour) is the capital and largest city in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Founded in 1769 by Manuel Sepúlveda, its population of 1,509,939 inhabitants (2010) makes it the tenth most populous city in the country and the centre of Brazil's fourth largest metropolitan area, with 4,405,760 inhabitants (2010). The city is the southernmost capital city of a Brazilian state.[2]

Porto Alegre was founded in 1769 by Manuel Jorge Gomes de Sepúlveda, who used the pseudonym José Marcelino de Figueiredo to hide his identity; but the official date is 1772 with the act signed by immigrants from the Azores, Portugal. In the late 19th century the city received many immigrants from other parts of the world, particularly from Germany, Italy and Poland. The vast majority of the population is of European descent.

The city lies on the eastern bank of the Lago Guaiba (Guaiba Lake), where five rivers converge to form the Lagoa dos Patos (Patos Lagoon), a giant freshwater lagoon navigable by even the largest of ships. This five-river junction has become an important alluvial port as well as a chief industrial and commercial center of Brazil." Wikipedia with corrections

Quel bel immeuble. L'architecture est remarquable en plus des couleurs assez spéciales. La contre plongée lui donne beaucoup d'ampleur.

Salut Neyvan,

A superb upward pov on the grandiose old building and perspective has been very well managed. The verticals have wisely been positioned in the centre allowing the tilted far right and far left lines to fall where they will. The tan color of the facade is unusual. Excellent sharpness and the modern highrise at left adds an old vs new theme. Tfs!

Hi Neyvan,
This is another beautiful classical building and once again you have chosen a wonderful view to shoot from allowing us to see the entire facade in one scene. The red color of the stone looks superb against the pale blue sky, and the blue fountains stands out well in front of it! I love architectural photography, so this really appeals to me.
