Series on my short trip to PORTO ALEGRE (JOYFUL HARBOR), the CAPITAL CITY of the STATE of RIO GRANDE DO SUL (SOUTHERN BIG RIVER), the most Austral State in Brazil - from January, 16th to 18th, 2015 - #006 !
A LARGER VERSION OF THE ORIGINAL POST !
AN EVEN LARGER WS VERSION !
MERCADO CENTRAL DE PORTO ALEGRE !
PORTO ALEGRE'S CENTRAL MARKET !
My first trip to PORTO ALEGRE was back in 1988! I traveled all by myself, by bus, to many places in Southern Brazil (the States of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul).
In 2002, while traveling by car from Campinas to Buenos Aires, I just passed by this city.
This third time, I came by plane and it was supposed to be a short trip to take some digital pictures of the city for the first time!
I took a lot and I'll share many with you all here on Trek Earth, from now on, all of them mixed with all the other places I've been to lately.
I'll also write more data about the city in the next pictures.
"Porto Alegre (local Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpoɾtʊ aˈlɛɡɾɪ] ( listen);[1] Joyful Harbour) is the capital and largest city in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Founded in 1769 by Manuel Sepúlveda, its population of 1,509,939 inhabitants (2010) makes it the tenth most populous city in the country and the centre of Brazil's fourth largest metropolitan area, with 4,405,760 inhabitants (2010). The city is the southernmost capital city of a Brazilian state.[2]
Porto Alegre was founded in 1769 by Manuel Jorge Gomes de Sepúlveda, who used the pseudonym José Marcelino de Figueiredo to hide his identity; but the official date is 1772 with the act signed by immigrants from the Azores, Portugal. In the late 19th century the city received many immigrants from other parts of the world, particularly from Germany, Italy and Poland. The vast majority of the population is of European descent.
The city lies on the eastern bank of the Lago Guaiba (Guaiba Lake), where five rivers converge to form the Lagoa dos Patos (Patos Lagoon), a giant freshwater lagoon navigable by even the largest of ships. This five-river junction has become an important alluvial port as well as a chief industrial and commercial center of Brazil." Wikipedia with corrections

Bonjour Neyvan,
Ce ne sont pas les beaux produits qui manquent dans ce superbe marché. Un très beau choix de cadrage serré et un magnifique rendu des couleurs.
Bon samedi

Hi Neyvan
This is a wonderful display of color, whoever gets to do their grocery shopping here are indeed lucky people, I know that my local stores never look so rich and inviting! A brilliant presentation of the colors of nature. Looking at this, you would wonder why anybody would have problems with eating their 5 a day!
Best wishes

Hi Neyvan,
Excellent colourful photo from supermarket fruit & vegi section with many tasty details.
I also try to capture details from miscellaneous shops, but sometimes the shop keepers do not like it.

Hello Neyvan
You captured masterly a colourful 'blast of health' at a 45 degree in respect to the flat fruit stand and from an elevated angle so the hanging baskets are parallel to the frame top; very pleasant to look at this studied layout.
Cheers.

What is it that attracts us to shots like this Neyvan? A frame packed with gorgeously colourful fresh produce. What a marvellous variety of shapes, sizes and textures.
Warm regards
