Where the devil lost his poncho, a photo from Ayacucho, South

Photographer's Note

There is an expression in Peruvian spanish which says: "Ese lugar es donde el diablo perdio su poncho" That place is where the devil lost his poncho. This expression is used to describe a very faraway lost place where not much goes on.

I can't find a better phrase to describe this place. This is one of the hamlets where we stopped on our way back from Vilcashuaman to AYacucho to buy something to drink. Not much there, just a few basic houses and stores to cater to the truck drivers and passersbyes.

Bonjour Daniel,
Tout d'abord merci pour ce thème en général avec de très bonnes photos qui nous montrent un peu plus le Pérou méconnu qui ressemble définitivement à un farwest contemporain.
Ici, encore une très bonne maîtrise du sujet. Je m'explique.
L'homme à gauche, le sourire au coin des lèvres. Il semble heureux tout simplement de partir de cet endroit déserté. L'homme à sa gauche semble dire au photographe : 'S'il vous plaît ne partez pas'. Enfin, j'exagère un peu, mais c'est comme ça que j'interprète cette photo à partir de la note. Enfin, les personnes au fond regroupées autour d'un stand et discutant sans fin de la pluie et du beau temps.
Je sais que tout cela ne correspond pas à la vérité dans l'instant où tu as pris cette photo. Mais vu a posteriori c'est ce qu'on pourrait lui faire dire qui importe. Et c'est ce que je crois entendre.

I love the dark shadows in your shot; they add to this end of world impression. But imo, the most interesting part are those green walls. SImple and beautiful. Thanks.

nice compo, i like the POV and the way you framed it. A good DOF, that gives some relief to the picture. i like the movement given by the two persons on foreground.
Is it really a lost place ? with a restaurant !

here we say 'where the devil lost his boots' :)
looks so desolated and dry but unexpectedly colorful. this green houses where on my way back to brasil coming from asunción. suddenly near the border, they disappeared. but this is the green of my childhood.

Hello Arkadash - it does have a very isolated outpost feel, reinforced by the desolate dry background. I don't know what a chicharron is but it's probably an acquired taste if all you had was a drink there. Greetings from Sydney.

j'aime beaucoup les couleurs et la lumière de cette image. avec cet homme et son mouton, et les montagnes derriere, on sent bien qu'on est dans un trou perdu. en français on dit " un endroit où le bon Dieu a perdu ses chaussures"

décidemment j'aime beaucoup tes photos aux couleurs incroyables et au léger flou.
celle ci ne déroge pas à la règle, ici la compo fonctionne très bien, avec une action devant et un second plan qui s'estompe mais qui reste très présent.
j'aime beaucoup ce que tu fais.
