Photographer's Note
Taken at one of the oasis in the Western Desert in Egypt. Throughout the desert, there are ocassionally patches of palm trees clustered together. This means there is hot spring water under the ground, and so the date palms and other fruit and spice giving vegetation appears. This is part of the Dhakla oasis.
The natural spring was fun to find, after hours of walking and exploring the area on my own.

Hello David,
I imagine after a long walk on the sand, finding an oasis must be quite an experience. This is a good contrast of elements. The arid desert in the background framed nicely by vegetation and water. Nice colours. Thanks David :-)

Hi Dave,
I never knew the water in a desert oasis came from "hot" underground springs. Interesting then that there doesn't seem to be any mineral build-up on the rocks or dirt around the water as there is in the hot springs in New Zealand or the USA.
I like your POV looking across the greenery to the desert dunes in the background, the contrast is quite amazing.
Lovely soft colours accentuated by the flat light.
Did you use the same post technique on this shot as you did for the Palms previously.
Regards
Peter

Hello David,
splendid landscape with great natural colours, from the green of the plants to the splendid blue sky. I like a lot this scene for the elements that compose it, the vegetation and the water, the beige mountain. Congratulation for this new beautiful photo and TFS.
Friendly regards.

Hi David
To find the spring I can imagine was fun and relief as well. Walking in the desert and not seeing water at all, can be distressing. In the 1980s was exploring the Sahara in South Morocco resp. Polisario land. It was an experience. Your picture of the spring has a lot of details, is well composed with great sharpness, fine DOF due to the sand dunes in the BG, and nice color hues. Well done
Best regards
Urs
