Photographer's Note

I was born and grown up in Noordwijk,just 400 metres from the sea,and living now 10 km inland for the last 19 years is already too far for me;]].
The best time on the beach is always after dinner,the beginning of the evening,facing the sea with a little wind around.
I always get that lovely,calm feeling,beeing alone with the endless water in front of me,sometimes with lots of thoughts,or with none at all.
This lonely kite surfer woke me up at high speed.

Hi Jan,

Beautiful photo, i like the warm colors mixed with the blue glider. the glider break the boring ocean/sky/clouds composition.
Walking on the beach can result in great moments to photo.

beautiful evening shot with the kite surfer surelly enjpying himself on those little waves.
The side light creates such a beautiful atmosphere lightniong up the whole scene, and specially the clouds in the sky.

A perfect image, with all the elements seeming coming from the same point at left. The low sun rays enhance the speed of the board and the sail is contrasting a lot with the overall hues.

Looking at the thumbnail , i thought to find a superb beach landscape under a fabulous light . But openning it , I've discovered an outstanding composition with the kite surfer and its wing perfectly placed .

Hi Jan,

Beautiful light and the bright blue of the kite lends just that right amount of `pop' to the scene. The clouds and the lonely kite surfer give the feeling of solitude on Holland's best beach.

Dag Jan,

Wanneer men geboren is tegen de zee kan men dit gevoel niet meer kwijt geraken, het zit er ingebakken, ik weet waar over ik spreek.
uren heb ik op de zee gekeken en nooit een zelfde beeld ontdekt, eigenaardig maar waar.
De golven en de kite surfer geven een extra toetje aan de foto. Bedankt.

Wow - brilliant exposure of the seascape! The light is just ideal - highlighting every tiny wave and cloud. I love the warm light here - and the surfer riding the waves breaking the monotoneity. Moreover, the left-leaning composition is balanced by the parasail in the upper-left.

I have just been looking at your truely wonderful portfolio. This is one of several that I particularly like. The composition and light are so good and just shows that it is not necessary to have subjects large in the frame. The surfer and his kite being small gives us a great sense of the large seascape.

Wat een mooie foto. De cumulus bewolking boven de horizon. De lichtblauwe vlieger opgelicht door de ondergaande zon. De spanning tussen de vlieger en de kite surfer. Kortom, een mooie foto bij ondergaande zon, waarin ook nog iets spannends gebeurd,

Fantastic capture! Without the kite this would simply be another photo of the beach. Including the kite give movement and depth to the shot.
