Photographer's Note

It is sunday today, the papagolfade day ! One more breton chapel, but an inside view of it this time. We are in Our Lady of Good News chapel (Chapelle Notre-Dame de Bonne Nouvelle in french, Chapel Itron-Varia Keveloù Vat in breton), that sits in Bas-Pont-Scorff in the town of Cléguer a few kilometers north of Lorient.

This chapel was probably built in 13th century and was mainly altered in 16th century and in 1878. Inside the chapel there are miscellaneous pieces of furniture. You can see part of them on the photo : a 17th century altarpiece which was restored in 19th century, and many statues from 18th and 19th century. Out of the photo the chapel hosts Lady Tronchâteau recumbent (Trouc'hastell in breton), a 13th century funeral scuplture, and an ex voto boat, the Saint Pierre (19th century), which recalls that Bas-Pont-Scorff used to be a fishermen village.

The photo was token this morning. The side door of the chapel was opened so there was some natural light in the chapel. Anyway I had to use 1600 ISO to take the photo. The workshop shows an outside view of the chapel. You will notice the blue breton sky I had desperately missed on weekends for a long time !
