Summer dawn, a photo from East Lothian, Scotland

Photographer's Note

Something woke me at 4am one day last week and I watched as colour crept into the dark sky. This was a lucky shot because I could not see this scene - my camera was outside the window pointing sideways. Rotated and cropped in Photoshop but no other post processing.

I am posting this as a tribute to the people of Oslo for whom this has been a dark dark day.

You certainly awake to a view that is very pleasing to the eye. A fitting tribute to the people of Norway. I am wondering if Norway would be in a direct line from this view? Cheers, Marlene

your new dawn is a fitting tribute to the people of Norway. I have been so impressed by the dignity of the Norwegians in the face of such horror. I am sure that with such good people the country will be able to move forward.

Hi Winifred,
This is a really great dawn photo. Not so many around, compared to sunsets ! People are not up at that time !!
Apparently, you didn't do any calculations for this capture, and yet it's perfect, where composition and colours are concerned.
I like the little gold circle in the massive structure on the left. Is it an archway or something that lets one see part of the sky ?
Funny ! It just looks like the sun rising.
Congratulations for taking this great opportunity ! It often happens to me too. It's chance that makes some of my good? photos.
A very thoughtful tribute to the people of Norway. What a tragedy !
