Photographer's Note
Captured just before sunrise the gibbous moon descends behind the ancient stones of Castlerigg near Keswick in England. This is one of the most visually impressive prehistoric monuments in Britain and is the most visited stone circle in Cumbria. One can only wonder what part the celestial bodies played in the pagan ceremonies and rituals that have taken place here.

Hi Stephen, one of the most impressive shots I've seen most recently. I can feel the invisible communication between those pre-historic stones and the moon which has been prevailing for thousands of years. Congratulations, Tolga

Hello Stephen, Very beautiful lunar photograph. The stones give it a mystical feel to it. Very clear image to be able to see the dark areas on the surface of the moon. Nice composition. You have a unique style.

Hi Stephen,
wow, that's a beautiful picture! Simple and effective composition, perfect exposure....love it. I'd like to know how you managed the moon because each time I tried to shoot a landscape with the moon, I've had troubles exposing it correctly...
Best,
Philippe

Hey Stephen,
Now this is amazing. Thanks for explaining how you managed to get the moon so evenly exposed. I think this is technically brilliant and the moment portrayed so beautifully.

Hi Stephen,
Great shot ! I find this better than your more recent post of this place, the colours look more natural. The composition is very well balanced, with the moon at the right place to take the free space in the sky. Exposure on the stones is incredibly good ! You really caught a magic atmosphere, well done !

Olivier

Hi Stephen:
I love this one. You have some of the best shots of Ireland I've seen, but this one of Cumbria is up there with the best of them. The telephoto effect, the misty mountains in the distance, and of course the nearly full moon combine to make a fantastic shot. Really nice.

Hello Stephen,
The feature of the moon is magnificent in this photo!
Geographic map is clearly seen and I like how the color of the moon is in harmony with the background sky.
Very well-captured,
Warm regards.
