Photographer's Note

Just outside of Rock Springs, Wyoming, is a sign that reads "Wild horse trail". We took the ramp and found ourselves on a dirt road that stretched up the hillside. A parked truck and it's occupant, a man training a bird dog, were the only interesting sights for almost an hour, unless you count the numerous horse droppings on the road. Then, another hill and another curve and there they were. Wild horses! Not streaking across the hillside, not running in the breeze, but quietly grazing on the green grass. This stallion, with the white on his face, was not alarmed at our presence, but his ears were alert. Another curve and another small band of wild horses appeared. Two small herds of wild horses, tame by our standards, were reward enough for us.
