R.I.P., a photo from Dublin, South

Photographer's Note

This is the cemetary and ruins of the chapel at Malahide castle, northeast of Dublin. The Talbot family lived in the castle from 1185 until the last heir died in 1976.

I went with a tighter crop while maintaing the lines on the right wall. The black and white does add more of a somber tone. I used adobe photo suite to change the DOF slightly, blurring the building in the background, unfortunately at the expense of the branches in front of it(any suggestions?). Thank you to everyone for thier input!

Great shot and modification. Now it's really let us feel the mood of an abandoned cemetary. I had a look at your original version and it was mostly the ultra green that didn't work in that shot.
About the branches in front of the blurred building, why not simply clone them out, they'r not essential. Might be a little long and touchy process but feasable.

This is an improvement, especially of tones. This is such a great photo, now we're being nit-picky! You build a very nice mood here. I do notice that the blurred branches are only blurred about half way up, so you might either clone them out (but I like them!) or blur them all the way down to the roots. It looks like you selected the background buildings and blurred them and the branches just got in the way. This is nice work. Thanks for reposting!

Une photo qui me rend triste, Quelle prise de vue, le temps a fait son oeuvre et rien n'a été fait pour redonner un peu de dignité à ce cimetière. Je dois te féliciter pour cette photo que je considère comme une oeuvre d'art qui m'a beaucoup ému.

I do prefer this BW mood. Really nice composition which enhances the abandonned feeling. Top trees make a great framing and partly avoid the bad result of the blown out sky. Keep shooting !
