Hola amigos y compañeros, hoy les propongo una vista del municipio asturiano de Ribadesella dividido en dos por el rio, un encantador lugar en la desembocadura del rio Sella. Espero que os guste, a continuación unas letras sobre la villa.

Ribadesella (en asturiano, Ribeseya) es un concejo de la comunidad autónoma del Principado de Asturias. Limita al norte con el mar Cantábrico, al este con Llanes, al sur con Cangas de Onís y Parres y al oeste con Caravia. Fundada por Alfonso X el Sabio. Fue uno de los principales puertos asturianos del siglo XIX. Cuenta con una población de 6.242 habitantes (INE, 2011).

El concejo cuenta también con numerosas empresas dedicadas al deporte de aventura, como piragüismo, espeleología o escalada. El primer sábado de agosto después del día 2 se celebra el famoso Descenso Internacional del Sella, donde acuden deportistas de todo el mundo y se celebra una gran fiesta local.

También este concejo destaca por la variedad turística que ofrece, y sobre todo por las actividades que rodean a la cueva de Tito Bustillo, famosa por sus pinturas prehistóricas y por las huellas de dinosaurio.

Durante la Edad Media la villa vivía un momento de esplendor gracias a los astilleros que se nutrían de la madera que se hacía bajar por el Sella, y al comercio marítimo, especialmente de la sal (indispensable para la salazón de los pescados). Sin embargo, la actividad más rentable era la captura de los salmones en el Sella, controlada por los “Mareantes”, y las cazas de las ballenas que invernaban en esas aguas. A consecuencia de esto se deriva la Casa de las ballenas que perdura en la villa hasta el siglo XIX.

En el plano político, Ribadesella pasó a ser una plaza muy disputada gracias a sus innumerables fuentes de riqueza y por su estratégica situación geográfica. Es aquí cuando la casa Quiñones se adueña de la villa en tiempos de Juan II, volviéndose a incorporar a la corona en tiempos de los Reyes Católicos que desalojan a la familia Quiñones de sus posesiones.

En el siglo XVI tiene lugar un acontecimiento histórico para la villa como es la llegada del emperador Carlos I de España, a raíz de la cual se festeja el acontecimiento durante dos días seguidos. Es en esta etapa cuando se fortifica el recinto de la ermita de la Guía para defender el puerto de pueblos enemigos. Es una época de relativa tranquilidad en lo referente a la seguridad.

Durante el siglo XVII se intentó crear en Ribadesella el puerto principal de Asturias, además de enlace con la meseta, presentando un proyecto de carretera por Ponga, pero por influencias de Jovellanos, finalmente recayó en el puerto de Gijón que proyectaba la carretera de Pajares para el acceso a la meseta por León. No por esto se estancó la villa, pues Carlos III donó 100.000 reales para las obras de ensanche y mejora del puerto que serían finalizadas un siglo después.

Hola Angel,
nice the view of the place with the curve of the gulf to adds depth and perspective in the image.The lot of the buildings alongside the promanate makes the image even more effective,with the marina on the right to completes perfect the whole scenery.

Hello Angel,
There is a very nice view across the bay towards the town neatly situated along the water with some houses also on the green slope. The area in the foreground looks like some kind of holiday resort with a different kind of architecture and a very nice wide sandy beach and beautiful turquoise water. It was a rather cloudy day but the colours are nicely saturated and the light has been excellently handled.

That's how I remember Ribadesella: with low hanging clouds on the mountain slopes :)
The composition of the picture is exellent and the place looks very attractive from your high point of view.
Despite the overcast sky the photo is very colourful.
The large beaches provide a stunning view.

Hello Angel,
The river makes a nice curve flowing through the town. Your vantage point shows the orange roofs and colourful façades of the houses on both sides very well. The landscape in the background is nicely obscured from view by the low-hanging clouds.

A beautiful stretch of bay view as the foreground gives this a point to focus on. A tasteful place just to sit and watch the sea roll in and out with the backdrop showing the essence of the coastal scape. Great DoF and tones to accentuate the overall beauty. Excellent take, Congrats.

Sensacional composicion, con esta vista del rio y sus dos orillas, ideal este bancal de fina arena en primer plano y la linea de fachadas al fondo con el verdor de los montes, una ubicacion fantástica la de esta poblacion.
Un color magnífico, que da a la imagen mucha riqueza cromática.

Hola Angel,

This is a most attractive town and port. It is full of warm colours tall, eclectic buildings and the attractive, curving river, which acts as a most effective guide around the scene
The f/g bushes help to give a sense of depth, from this high viewpoint.
I think it would have been possible to crop quite a lot of the grey sky, to concentrate on the beauty of the port, without spoiling the sense of composition.

Bellísima vista de esta simpática ciudad a la orilla del río, desde un punto de vista privilegiado! Me gusta la pequeña playa que se ve en la imagen, a pesar de no haber nadie en ella, y los árboles en el primer plano que le dan muy buena profundidad a la foto. Excelente trabajo!

fantastic point of view. The bay makes a lovey turn here. There is so much going on, beach, marina, charming town and lush vegetation.

You have showed photos from Austria before so for a moment reading your note I was not sure if you misspelled Austria it is so similar to Asturia. But obviously I know the difference, especially after seeing your photos:)

Hello Angel, Interesting town so divided by the wide river of Sella. Nice harbour, there is also nice sandy beach in the town and a promenade. Excellent composition with fine colours and depth.

Yet another beautiful town from the Asturias region along the north shores of Spain, Angel.
The town around the blue lagoon with its vividly painted houses contrast wonderfully with the far side mountains and forests.
